Oh no.  There will be some devastated families at home.  How sad.

One of these unfortunates drowned off Kumburnu Beach, which, for the initiated, is The Blue Lagoon, although the full circumstances are not yet disclosed, it just proves that what looks like a very innocuous stretch of water can be dangerous to anyone. Take care everyone.

The name Kumburnu refers to the whole stretch of the land (like an peninusula).
I heard that the drowning wasn't in the blue lagoon but at the other side, the side of the "open" sea.

Sometimes it's not the power of the sea that causes these deaths, a few years ago a man drowned after suffering a heart attack in the calm water while on one of the daily boat trips. It must be devastating for their families.

an entry on Facebook indicated that the families' s problems continued when they were arranging to have their bodies repatriated. A bogus insurance person (ambulance chaser to us) attempted to get them to sign papers which was roughly translated by the hospital translator, who were quite new to the job. Fortunately a man who is fluent in Turkish saw what was happening and intervened. Yet another thing not to be taken at face value, if Turkish is not your first language make sure you understand what the document is you are signing. This bogus insurance man is despicable to be preying on thewe families at this tragic time.
