Title: Turks don't understand queing.
Post by: KKOB on October 01, 2018, 15:30:18 PM
A survey published recently has illustrated a growing concern with Turkish people in that a large percentage still find it hard to understand the concept of queuing and ‘waiting their turn’.

Good one KKOB. But sadly, they aren't alone. Just last winter in Andorra most of the kids (encouraged by their parents who were obviously guilty themselves) tried to get to the front of the queue for the ski lifts. I detected several southern & central European accents! (The Andorrans themselves, by the way, are among the most polite people on the planet IMHO). But I think that in the main its just poor 'manners' education and I would venture to suggest that it may be that none of the 'guilty' countries ever formed part of the empire. (Before I get pelters - all I'm saying is that good manners generally prevail in former empire & current commonwealth countries).

Erm, Turkey had quite the empire at one time. In fact it only ended in 1923. You may have heard of it.

It was intended that it was implicit which 'empire' I was referring to!
