Has anyone else had this when they stayed in a hotel in Calis?
We stayed for a week over xmas newyear at Sevi classic and the wine and drinks lists were in in Euros not lira which was very confusing and very expensive when an advertised bottle of wine was instead of the 30 lira turned out to be 80 or something when converted. In fact 1 bottle od red and 1 bottle of rose came to 100 lira and they wernt anything to shout about. And a round of three drinks when converted came to 75 lira.
I was not very inpressed and very used the bar again during our stay.

The prices in Nevada Su were quoted as euros eg gin 8 €. Turn out it was 8 lira.

Mind you, it took me five days to find that out because I was too tight to pay the quoted euro price ;)

...and how often do they charge people euros and get away with it? And if they do, who's pocket does the difference end up in...

I haven't seen it to be honest but then I am not really interested in drinking in hotel bars because the World over they charge much more than the bars local to them and invariably have the worst atmosphere.

True but i really hate the feeling that i have ripped off and they must make hundreds if not thousands out of unsuspecting travellers.

Couldn't agree more - I'd rather give 1000 lira to a stranger than be ripped off for 1

happy flier - can I ask were the prices clearly marked as €'s. They were at Nevada Su which is why we didn't buy.

Highlander - can I ask you, given your comment "The prices in Nevada Su were quoted as euros eg gin 8 €. Turn out it was 8 lira" - do you believe the prices "turned out" to be lira and not the euros quoted?

Since they were clearly marked as euros I assumed that was the price they were charging and I decided I wasn't going to part with those amounts. I did wonder if the price was actually lira, but didn't have the "bottle" to ask.

I'm not sure that answers the question :D

I'll ask another way - do you think, on reflection, that the drinks price list being in euros was a mistake (in that it should have been lira), or that it was a specific attempt to get people to pay 8 euros until the moment they queried the list?
