Earthquake damage to the Pelin Hotel
« on: July 16, 2012, 12:57:53 PM »
Can other members provide a new member with information regarding the Pelin Hotel.

Is it the case that 1. the hotel suffered structural damage in June and/or 2. guests were moved to other hotels for their safety.

If the hotel was damaged what is the current situation.

when we were in Calis from 13 th june, 4 days after the quake  there were around 11 people staying at our hotel  the Oykun , we new 2  of them from last years holiday ,  who had been moved from the Pelen  because of we were told a crack from top to bottom where the two buildings had been joined following an extension a while ago, we were also told that others were moved to various other hotels.
whilst out walking on monday 19th we noted  the tape that was across the Pelen entrance was removed, and coaches pulling up at the Pelin  with new clients, and noted table clothes were back on the external  tables  and clients on balconys, we assume they new nothing about the crack, .
was it a quick polyfiller job and a lick  of emulsion we wondered  ??? ??..
we wondered if when bar staff along the prom asked clients where are you from and where are you staying , as they mostly do , what they did about the situation

If i was heading to the Pelin in the near future, i would e-mail them and ask them how there repairs after earthquake is going..

if not happy with there reply or you think they have done an in-adequate repair i would speak to them about moving hotels..

dont put yourselves at risk

Some people were moved from the Pelin to our hotel (Gunes) and the Seketur.  We heard that the Pelin reopened fairly soon afterwards and that the cracks had been plastered over.   Presumably it has been checked properly before being allowed to reopen.

Well considering the Nevadu Su is operating without Fire Escape Stairs - you have to wonder.

My turkish friend and holiday home owner is a very close friend to the owner of the pelin and when i was talking to him earlier in the year he told me that some of the structal damage was the stair cases to the hotel and that was part reason why they evacuated people to other hotels.

I had to call in to the Pelin yesterday to speak to someone, it looked as if it was all operating as normal.
