Scunner,

I think you need to ask Terry to look at Calis Chat as I seem to always have problems getting in to it. Something more user friendly would get a lot more people chating.

I've tried a few times Stoop, only once with any sort of success - even then I wasn't sure I had got it right 'cos I seemed to be talking to myself !......

I am always in there as dk49_
as i was when roy came in (yes, you were in the right room roy)i wasn`t ignoring you, i was not at my pc at the time.
Anybody who hasn`t got Mirc or a serial number (to get rid of the 30 day whatsit) you can download both from me at :  http://www.telmessos.co.uk/mirc/
They have both been Virus checked,
Once it is set up, just follow Terrys instructions :

OK, for those that have never used or know what mIRC is........it's an internet relay chat that comes in a little software package. Once you've downloaded it, instal it. When you open it it will ask for a user name and other details.....don't give your own email addy for security reasons here.
Along the left hand side of that pop up window is a directory. Open the server option and in the top drop down box leave it set to 'all'. The next drop down underneath is an 'add' button, click this and another pop up window will appear. In the top box (Description)put Calis (just so you know that this is your channel). In the next (Server) type in irc.webmaster.com. Leave the port set to 6667 in group type #calis and just click 'add'. Back to the prior window click 'connect to server'......you'll see a lot of scrolling text, ignore that.

For simplicity here's a link to take you direct to the channel http://irc://irc.webmaster.com/calis You'll need to have mIRC installed.

HI Dave
Great run down and thanks to you and Terry, I seem to be trouble free.

One small but maybe helpful thought is to tell everyone to right click on your above irc address and copy the shortcut and paste it to the desktop after doing the signing on and 30day bit. Then you have an icon on your desktop to just click on and whoosh, straight in. No problems with firewalls or ad killers getting in the way.

Thanks for letting me know Dave. At least I now know I was doing things right for once.
- my usual philosophy is to give things a try first, then if it cocks up try reading the instructions.  :)

Dave,

I've given up! I keep getting the message that only registered users can access the chanel when I registered last week.

I'll just heve to delete it all I suppose and start again.

Dave and I stay in the chatroom as long as we can, to keep the channel open.

If you can't get in (or get the registered users only message) it means neither of us is in so the room is closed.

If you go in and Dave or I are there and we don't speak to you, it means we are not on our PC's we are just keeping the room open.
