Mrs KKOB and I are spending a few nights in Istanbul in the autumn. Any recommendations for places to visit that aren't on the usual Tourist Trail ?

The Rahmi M Koç Museum

The first major museum in Turkey dedicated to the history of Transport, Industry and Communications. Housed in magnificent buildings - themselves prime examples of industrial archaeology - on the shore of the historic Golden Horn, the collection contains thousands of items from gramophone needles to full size ships and aircraft

Fabulous place !!!!!

How about the cable car that overlooks the Golden Horn or one of the Prince's Islands?

We'll pass on that thanks. Neither of us are great fans of cable cars and Mrs KKOB has mobility problems and I'm not letting her have the rear seat on a tandem.  ;)
