Hello everyone I am looking for some information please. I am thinking of goin to Istanbul in October for a 4 day break. It is expensive to go as a package tour so I am looking at booking the flight and accommodation seperately. What are the taxi prices like from the airport
any idea? I realise it's a very general question and it's hard to tell me unless I know where im staying but I just wonder if we are looking at London type prices? 8)
Thank you
Heather

I presume you mean from Istanbul Airport to the Centrum?  We paid about £25 about 3 years ago.

We flew to the airport on the Asian side from England and caught a bus into the middle of Istanbul. We crossed the Bospherous on a ferry to reach the Sultanhamet area where the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace etc are. There are quite a lot of hotels in that area too. The metro runs all around the popular areas and it is very reasonably priced, just buy a token at the little kiosks on the stations.

Several hotels offer free transfers if your stay is for a few days, Tashkonak in Sultanahmet being one. :)

Best bet is to get the airport shuttle. We paid 10 euros each for tfr direct to our hotel which was in the Sultan Ahmet area. They also picked us up for our return. :)
