For a long time now, a friend of this forum and great supporter of the Children's Charity has been Gerbuz of Onur Jewellery in Calis. His is the shop on the left hand side as you approach the water taxi and next door to Ali's Bar.
Last year an official change shop set up and complained to the Zabita that he was advertising to change money, he was then told he can still offer to change but that he had to stop advertising rates openly in the resort.
If you need to change money, many CBF members can testify to Gerbuz's honesty and he will guarantee to give you a better rate than advertised by the official change shop.
He is also running a 50% discount sale and you can pick up some great bargains at the moment.

We were speaking with Gerbuz only last week, he actually gave my wife a brilliant price for some jewellery she wanted to sell.
We have always used his shop and his honesty is second to none, well done Rimms for bringing this to the attention of the members. I for one wasn't aware of this.
We will continue to use him as will all our friends who are regularly around calis

fully agree with both of the previous posts - such an honest man.

Its quite bizzar that he has been offering this service from well before the change shop opened and now he can't advertise it because the new commer complained.
-
He also does jewellery repairs for a fraction of what it costs in the UK.

The change shop is 'licensed' and so none of the other shops close by are allowed to advertise a rate.

Have used and recommended him for years. The absolute opposite to the notorious Fethiye clothes shop con man. No games or funny business with Gerbuz, I've never had a problem and I have never heard of anyone else having one either. We should all support the guys who look after us.

how many change shops are they in Calis ? as last week there were at least 5 advertisng the rate including shops on the same side as Onur

Sedat at Zumrut Jewellers next door to Onur also gives the same rate. He is also a"straight up" guy and is in fact Gerbuz's nephew. However they don't speak to each other.
-
was that because the romanian girl that worked for him swapped shops so to speak

We always change our money at Onur - always friendly and a good rate.

We've always used Onur as an exchange. Was gutted in early May that, not only was he not open, but with the "official exchange shop", all the small businesses who'd previously offered exchange, no longer did so. Glad to use his service again in September.

I'm not sure Ron but the feud has gone on for several years. Sedat would not tell me why.
Gerbuz was in fact in Brighton during the first two weeks of May apparently opening a jewellers. It was while he was away
that we stated using Sedat who had previously dated a young lady from Violet. I now share my business between them.

Onur gets out vote as well. Been changing money their since the first time we found Calis ;D

Onur was recommended to us by Scunner when we first bought our apartment back in 2009. Have used him ever since and recommend him to our friends when they go over. Only problem is when we go in to exchange money always seem to buy a small piece of jewellery! :-*
