Interest Rates

Can anyone give me an idea of the approximate interest rate currently paid out and which bank or banks are generally recommended to open an account with?

hello Dr K,  interest rates presently 7.5% to 10 % depending on amount deposited and bank you use. Can recommend Fortis Bank.
Chap to contact is Alper (the banker) on this forum or at his office in Fethiye   These interest rates of course are available from Lira accounts.

and I can highly recommend Finansbank. I also have an account with Garanti but Finansbank is my bank of choice... prefer their internet banking too. Super staff.

I did a search of all bank interest rates some time ago (posted info on CBF) and discounted any that didn't have the info readily available and easily accessible on-line.

I found that Turkish banks were much more up front about their rates than the overseas banks that are here in Turkey.
