« on: September 26, 2014, 17:55:11 PM »
can just let people be aware changing money at this place in calis
hubbie popped along to change £200 while i stayed in the dawn beach
(he never changes the money it is one of my jobs)
when he came back he had only change of £100 so we went back and they were very nice everything was on camera and we got the rest of our money back
surely the fella counting the notes knew he had £2oo, has we seen on camera him count it out,but gave change for £100
i wonder how many tourist he does this too and gets away with it
NICE LITTLE EARNER >:(

This happened to us - same situation £200 but only got £100 worth - but it was at Onur Jewellers - I think I have posted a link to the topic.  That may be what you are thinking of Karennina?

The guy who works there is a member and apparently from other postings there are different rates for different people.

I have used no-one else but the this PROPER , LEGAL exchange shop for around 10 years , and can honestly say that I have always been treated with the utmost friendliness and respect , and have NEVER had any problems with transactions. The only way that there can ever be " different rates for different people " , is if one possesses a certain card which is available to anyone, it gives the guys in the exchange office the option to increase, LEGALLY , the rate, but only ever so slightly . It must also be pointed out that, under Turkish law, it is an extremely serious offence , punishable by imprisonment for both parties , to exchange money anywhere else apart from proper exchange offices, the small difference given by jewellers etc. certainly would not coax me nearer to a Turkish jail !!!!
