As the temperature steadily rose here today and finally peaked at a balmy 5 degrees, it occurred to me that the Scottish summer must be all but just around the corner.
That being the case, it will not be too long before we are treated to the annual feast of mirth and athleticism that is the Highland Games. Forget Beijing, these will be the highlight of summer sport in 2008
Where else will you be able to sit, shivering to the core despite a minimum of three layers of artic clothing, feel the driving rain lash against any bare skin which you have stupidly left exposed and watch prime specimens of Highland eye-candy indulge in such spectacular events as throwing a 20 foot long piece of wood, weighing 130 pounds, end over end.
So, the question is ?. Are there any "strange" annual events which happen where you are in the UK or in Turkey.
