Today the Office of National Statistics (Stoops unfavourite number crunchers) announced the recession started in the 2nd quarter of 2008 not the 3rd quarter as had originally been supposed. So last Spring we were all merrily carrying on as usual without realizing that we were, in fact, in recession. We should have been miserable much earlier and all of us have depression defecit that we need to balance. We all owe the country a debt of unhappiness and we need to up our quota of miserableness now - perhaps by considering the price of a glass of Efes.
