Just got back from the main st area, it's devastation, unbelievable. All the shops, banks, houses, pubs are up to 10 feet of water. Luckily we live on high land overlooking the town but the poor people of the town area have their houses and businesses destroyed, I cant imagine what the main street will be like when the water subsides. My kids are talking about going down in the morning to see if they can help anyone. Helicopters rescuing people from their homes.
WE have just been talking to a friend who has a florists, she said she had flowers for a funeral tomorrow, and a wedding on saturday, all gone. Just saw the landlord of my local pub wading out of the back door, he told me that the water was above the bar level, sh*t, no pint this weekend.
That's Christmas finished in this town, we were to have the lights switched on this weekend, usually a nice celebration of the beginning of the Xmas period.
Sorry for this rambling but I can't believe whats happened.
