If you took a job where in your contract you were told you would get a bonus if you did "X", and then when you achieved "X" you were told the public were unhappy about your bonus so you are not getting it, I think you would be pretty pi**ed off, and the company would be in breach of contract and sued for more than the bonus!!!!!!!!

I'm with Baz on this. If the people being payed a bonus hit their targets and contractually should get it - pay them. If we want to screw the bank up further and have little chance of getting the bailout money back - don't pay them...

The best thing if you do not like it, is put your money in another bank.  If all the customers voice their opinion by moving their accounts then there will be no bonuses.

bonuses are how the banks keep the good bankers so take the bonus away and you save money short term but the top players go to banks that pay and then you lose money.

Most banks lost billions, who exactly are these "good bankers" they are so keen to keep?

Apparently the guys in RBS who want the bonuses are the same guys who got the Bank in the s..t last year.
Well, they really deserve a rise, don't they?
