The Years of Longing for Snow
« on: January 06, 2010, 13:00:08 PM »
The kids couldn't remember snow from the time before we moved to Turkey and certainly didn't build many snowmen during their 5 years in Calis. It was not long after we moved back to the UK that they first experienced going to bed with everything 'normal' and waking up to find everything covered in white stuff. A wonderful and I guess rare thing for such a first to happen to 8 year olds.

Having snow arrive just before Christmas, and in such huge volumes was fantastic as it didn't stick around last year. We had great fun throwing snowballs, watching the icicles get longer, building a snowman, walking on the frozen lake, slushing back through the snowy lanes in the dark, counting the Christmas trees in living room windows. Totally magical. If there was one more thing I could wish for,

CAN YOU TAKE IT AWAY NOW, I'VE HAD ENOUGH

Absolutely, you may know my feelings on the matter from "taht other place":(.

Bus into work this morning while still dark. Not a prayer of moving the car and if I had been able to, it would have only been on to a surface akin to the cresta run:(

Mark can you take another photo, say, another 50-80ft high swing to the right and look down and take a photo of my house :D

I am sat in the lounge looking out to the neighbours garden, a Palm tree covered in snow!  I have a cold and feeling a bit hazy this image is not helping me any.

I still love the snow, inside warm and snug sipping lemsip:(

Scunner
My five year old grandson has not seen much snow and he thought it was great.
He feels the same as you and would like to go back to "normal winter"

He's right!

Yet still I see the reports on Sky News, and even the photos Rimms posted yesterday and I think it all looks wonderful. That's me I guess, a hopeless romantic :D

No, that is yoiu looking at it from a cosy house.

If you are still going soft about snow time to go up Craigie hill sledging.
Don't ask me where because I am NOT daft: :)
