The Years of Longing for Snow
« Reply #10 on: January 06, 2010, 18:52:48 PM »
Today was our first day of snow in South East Wales since last February.  It looks fab and gave me a great opportunity to use my new camera I had for Christmas.   :)

My Tesco home delivery arrived on time (early, in fact) yesterday afternoon so the cupboards are full of food (and wine   :-\ ).

I was praying for snow late last night, and it came overnight.  Brill - all local schools closed as a lot of our teachers travel from the Valleys and Cardiff.  Another day off tomorrow for the same reason.  A couple of unexpected days off work are just sooo nice, and the kids have had great fun all day.  :P

BUT, I feel so sorry for all you people up North and in Scotland.  One day of it and I've had enough!  The extra days off work are one thing - being pinned in the house as its too icy to step outside is another!  :(  Even the kids say they are going to stay in tomorrow, as it's "too cold" out there.  [|)]

Mark, please can we have a picture of our house in Gunlukbasi too?  It's awful thinking of our little home in Turkey all lonely in the sunshine, and us stuck at home in the cold UK!   :o:([8)]

Even colder for you lot up there tonight, -20deg, according to the news a few moments ago, brrrrrrr.  :(  Only -10 for us.   :)

Joking aside.

I have pinched this from a colleague who has written to a local paper who has asked that you all look out for the vulnerable people who aren't able to get to shops.

The idea.  I would hate you to think I was going soft ;).

She was telling us she saw a lady struggling to get out of her gate.  She took her back indoors and went and got Bread and milk for her.  She then wrote to Local paper and asked folk to watch out for the vulnerable.  I was just expanding on that and spreading HER word :)

Ah I get it :D

I'm doing my bit, there's an old couple across the road from us and I'm keeping an eye out for them. I don't think they'll be needing anything for a while, there's at least 9 pints of milk on their doorstep.
