A beautiful city, the capitol of the highlands. The new shopping centre leaves much to be desired, but the castle, riverside and older Crown St area is still beautiful to me. My mothers birthplace and I have spent many holidays in the area.

Buddy says it all, the older parts are very nice, the new stuff, like most modern builds is terrible.

Even though Inverness town centre is awful I have to say that Stirling town centre is much worst.

On my travels I have found some wonderful Scottish towns. I thought Stirling was not bad, for terrible you have to go to Glenrothes or Leven  :)

Yes, I used to live in Markinch before they built the Glenrothes town centre shopping mall.. What a shock we got when returned a few years later that is a carbuncle, Prince Charles would have a fit.

Hilary has never been to Scotland and is starting to pester me to there for a tour sometime. Nice to know we have such a wide range of carbunkles from which to choose. Perhaps I will show her this thread and we can go and drink Guinness in Ireland instead - which neither of us have done.

Yes I'd avoid Scotland. Where I live is so carbunculous that it's best only to photograph it at night

We're off to Ireland in April, looking forward to trying a traditional lunch of oysters and half a pint of Guinness. Partly.

I guess it will be a bit better once the floods have gone down.
