I remember going around to a friend / neighbours house to watch England v Brazil in 2002 - I think??

When Brazil scored my friend cheered and jumped up so loudly - I couldn't belive someone British would do that!!

My friend played for Scotland in the 1978 World Cup!

Ps H - is that one of those nervous - I hope none of my mates see me in this smiles  ;)

Now then give them credit for the win against Holland!

Scored a famous own goal just before the tournament.

Good steady pro - had a long career but will always be remembered for that own goal [:(!]

In his defence Scottish keepers are really bad!! :D

Come on then - you should be able to get that?

Gosh - you really are quick and accurate considering you must have only been 29 in 1978 !

Just noticed - that was less than a minute - hardly enough time to google it  ;)

I bet my mum £5 that Scotland couldn't beat Holland by the margin required (3 clear goals?) - I was surprised she took the bet. Anyway, after such a rousing effort after the two previous disasters she refused to pay up, telling me people should get behind their country rather than try to profit from their demise.

I think she had no intention of paying anyway.

That really does explain everything now - abused as a child :D :D

How did you have a spare fiver in 1978 - must have been loaded?????

I didn't have a fiver, and with Scotland needing to beat Holland by 3 clear goals I didn't need one either.
