What's on Your Wall?
« on: November 06, 2011, 16:57:07 PM »
I was prompted to ask this question by Highlander's thread about 2012 Olympic posters - many of which I found rather good, but which he derided. Just as well that people's tastes differ I guess. So I thought it might be interesting to ask CBFers what they currently have on their walls in terms of artwork.

I'll start. All of ours are prints I'm afraid; were they real I would be a billionaire. We have four by Picasso, four by van Goch, two Gaugin's, one Jackson Pollack, a Modlgliani, a Kadinsky, several small Cornish abstracts by artists we can't remember, one of those aerial photographs by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, and a whole pile of stuff in the loft that I haven't got round to hanging yet. What are my favourites? On some days it is one of Picasso's many Woman in a Chair; on others it is Hilary's definite favourite Kadinski's Mit und Gegen - that I translate as For and Against, and which, for me, evokes two fighting ships from very different navies.

PICASSO

KADINSKY

I Have three  MC Escher  prints . Hand with reflective sphere (self portrait Lithograph). Three worlds (lithograph).  Rippled surface (Linoleum cut). A black and white picture of Sonny Boy Williams (Rice Miller) with the king biscuit band. And a Martin Allen print, A scanner darkly.
http://www.differentaspects.com/1990s.htm. Plus art work from family members.

PS. Have you seen the Kadinsky prints reproduced in Turkish Carpets.

I have 30,000 sunflower seeds on the living room floor. I'm not particularly into Chinese modern art, I have a messy parrot.
