How much JUNK do you have in your house?
Prior to our forthcoming move over to Calis (Thursday) we have spent about the last three months sorting out the 'stuff' we have accumulated over the past 30 something years. My plan was to do a series of car boot sales and become a top rated ebay seller with all of the desirable things we would have for sale....... as it turns out I am on first name speaking terms with the boys at the tip (now called recycling centre's)as most of what we had surplus was pure junk!
I was amazed and even bemused at some of the things we had stored in the loft, a broken black and white portable tv, jigsaws with loads of missing pieces, half a meccano set and countless bags of clothes from the 70s & 80s.
One nice thing we did have was a 1968 (F Reg) Morris 1300 which we have had stored in a lock up for more than 20 years, the original plan was when we retired to restore it back to it's former glory, which in fact would not have been such a big project as the car has only done 34,000 miles in its 44 year lifetime, anyway, we are delighted to say that we have donated the car to the North West Museum of Road Transport (in St Helens)and are really looking forward to seeing it on display in the museum.
If you are in the NW and have not yet been to the museum, go and look, it is not only packed full of vintage cars, coaches and buses, there are also loads of artefacts on display from years gone by. If you are a loose end one weekend then go and have a look, and let us know how Maurice (Chris's name for her car.... said in a French accent) is getting on.
