Things have changed - but not necessarily for the better
« on: January 13, 2013, 22:02:36 PM »
During a splendid evening with a very good friend last evening the conversation turned, as it off does, to yesteryear.

It occurred to me that the replacement collars for shirts were a very good thing (don't know if you still get them).

So is there something that has gone out of fashion that you would rather hadn't.

PS Any references to correct quiz answers should be avoided if at all possible.

You don't see mittens sewn on each end of a length of elastic in coats much anymore.

I do remember something that had vanished and "not for the better". When I was at school I recall hand warmers, they were like a velvet covered glasses case with something like charcoal inside. In very recent years hand warmers have made a bit of a comeback, but there were a couple of decades when they were unheard of.

I think.

And more's the pity I say.

I still get the old leather boxes for the collars in house clearances.   The people I always sell  them to are Ministers, as the Church seem to be the only place nowaways that use separate collars.
Other things that I get in my business that are never used now  spats, glove stretchers and button hooks...
