I do remember something that had vanished and "not for the better". When I was at school I recall hand warmers, they were like a velvet covered glasses case with something like charcoal inside. In very recent years hand warmers have made a bit of a comeback, but there were a couple of decades when they were unheard of.

I think.

You obviously came from moneyed folk, we were sent to school with a baked jacket potato in our pocket, not only did it keep the hands warm, it was cheap lunch too

'Back in the day..........................'when I was in my teens (1960's) I used to wear polo neck insets underneath v neck sweaters.Kept my neck cosy but wasnt too warm.Saved me wearing 2 jumpers!

Careful, you'll get H over-excited!!  Don't, whatever you do, mention your school uniform.
