Fox bites off baby's finger
« on: February 10, 2013, 11:07:47 AM »
A fox dragged a 1 month old baby out of it's cot and when the Mother heard the screams and ran upstairs, the fox had the baby's hand it is mouth.  The Mother fought the fox off, but it bit one of the baby's fingers off.  Surgeon's too three hours to re-attach the finger. :o
This happened in Great London and it seems there are now 10,000 urban foxes in London that are now not afraid of humans and regularly coming into homes looking for food.
Perhaps now people will not think of them as so lovey and cuddly >:(

maybe they are urbanised because they were chased out of their natural habitat?

Maybe it's the 'easy-pickings' available in towns.  So much food waste now we don't burn our rubbish on the fire, along with infrequent collections of dustbins.

How awful for the family.  Hopefully the wee one will make a full recovery.
Tinx, I found your comment a little insensitive :(

There's a clear sort of perspex/glass tunnel walkway that runs along the entire frontage of Glasgow Airport (I'm sure Anne knows it well). We sat outside the terminal having a last cigarette before our Dalaman flight and watched a fox walk along the entire length of it.

There are loads of foxes in the countryside, but they find the pickings easier in the towns, foxes always will take the food that is easy to get.   However, even in the countryside they are getting much bolder.  Once upon a time they only came out in the evenings. It's now quite common to see them during the day.  We see them all the time around out place.. Foxes ,the main reason we stopped keeping chicken, ducks, geese and peacocks, lost too many, too much upset and heartache.   A friend of ours who lived across from a Piggery watched a fox coming out of the Piggery with a baby pig in it's mouth.  He told the owner who had inadvertantly left the door open.

My sister lives in Ealing and she sees foxes in her garden every week. She even knows the difference in footprint shape to that of cats (longer/ thinner?).  We live in relative countryside and only see a fox every few weeks.
