Whats happened to sausages?
« on: December 16, 2013, 16:13:04 PM »
We have been back in The U.K for 7 months now and having been living on Kargi sausages and The Eyna bratwurst which are lovely was looking forward to some delicious pork sausages... We have tried cheap ones. fat ones. thin ones expensive ones./ "which incidently were the worst" tough skins... :( Such a disappointment.. We want a nice tasty pork or Cumberland sausage. Any suggestions.. Don't suggest Richmond or Walls sausages. They went down hill years ago.

I agree Mercury, good sausages are becoming hard to find. We usually get some from a local farm shop. My mum buys M & S, she says the skins are nice and thin!

I think the only recognisable thing about most of them is the shape...

True! Plus of course then you have to wade your way through all the different flavours now - not just good old pork!  : :)

Tesco's Finest are reasonable for the price. Although I think these days there seems to be a competition amongst the sausage producers to see who can come up with the most bizarre combination of ingredients and flavours.

Never buy any other sausages than the ones made by our local butcher, who has won awards for his sausages. Try your own local butcher's.

Oddly enough, I only like "chip shop" sausages. Goodness knows what's in them (and I prefer not to know) but I like the smoother texture.
OH had cheese and chilli sausages the other day….uugghh.
