Sweet Child of Mine does it for me every time, closely followed by AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Primal Scream and The Cult!

Most of the 'usual suspects' and damn fine they are too, but how did they miss these ones?

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHhrZgojY1Q" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHhrZgojY1Q</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRxHF7AnjjQ" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRxHF7AnjjQ</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeRa3RtBiIU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeRa3RtBiIU</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQPlU5q1CBI" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQPlU5q1CBI</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFo8-JqzSCM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFo8-JqzSCM</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B0Y3LUqr1Q" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B0Y3LUqr1Q</a>

but why they did not consider these more contemporary live numbers?

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw02OGddhD8" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw02OGddhD8</a> (whose that old git playing the bass?)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3Iam7JELDM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3Iam7JELDM</a>

and Finally it wasn't just Elvis that made the records great, there was a certain guitarist Scotty Moore who made the great Elvis Presley even greater.... like this

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzQ8GDBA8Is" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzQ8GDBA8Is</a>
or this
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj0Rz-uP4Mk" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj0Rz-uP4Mk</a>
or may be this
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWgprZu4Hk4" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWgprZu4Hk4</a>

That's enough for now.....

Tonight, BBC4 9.00-10.00 BST, "The Joy of the Guitar Riff" with interviews with numerous noted guitarists - including, especially for tiggsy, Johnny Marr.

Parisian walkways  Phil Lynott, Thin Lizzy.  However, also like Gary Moore's performance of it too.

All good guitarists but remember this about riffs, not melody or solo. That being said it must be the Stones or AC/DC in my book.

And "All right Now" is in the list...

And the definition on the web site is...

"For the purpose of this vote a guitar riff has been defined as 'the main hook of a song and must be played principally by a guitar. It often begins the song, but is repeated throughout it, giving the song its distinctive voice."
