For reasons I won't go into, I was reminded of this game for too many years ago

I remember me and my friends used to save lolly sticks and use them for this game.
I used to love playing marbles or Ollies as we called it in Liverpool.  Always had a really good Ollie that used to be able to beat the others my friends had.   Never see kids with marble now.

In my youth (many ears ago) we used to play "jacks" which involved bouncing a ball in the air whilst retrieving small metal spheres, one at a time, then two, then three, and so on.  Many winter hours spent sitting on the lino playing this.  Anyone else do this?

Yes, we called it Jacks but some kids called it Bones or Knucklebones.

Seeing that picture brought back many memories, we had a league and every week we worked out who was top of the league.  I only made it once but I was bursting with pride!! (there were only 4 of us playing!!)
