Antalya aims to become a brand

Aiming to take its place among the "brand" cities of the world, the popular tourism resort of Antalya will be the first Turkish city to create its own brand strategy.

     Antalya Municipality and Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO) have decided to cooperate with Sweden based Interlace Invent, which is also the brand consultant for cities like Shangai and Barcelona, and its Turkish partner Brandasist.

  A protocol for promoting Antalya as a brand was signed Wednesday at a ceremony. Within the scope of the protocol, a professional team will be responsible for the branding strategy of the city. Interlace Invent and its Turkish partner will prepare a roadmap for Antalya and will figure out which properties of the city should be promoted to the world.

  Speaking at the ceremony, Antalya Mayor Menderes Turel said the project would determine the roadmap to launch Antalya as a brand in international markets. "We want to invest in culture tourism and health tourism and to expand the tourism season to 12 months. We aim to complete Cumhuriyet square and other urban transformation projects and strengthen public transportation with rail systems to help this purpose."  

  The project, which is a first in Turkey, will also set an example for other cities.
