On a recent visit to Uzumlu, we ventured on up to this old settlement which dates back to 3000BC and is sign posted from the village.
It cost 5ytl each to get in and took us about 90 min to wander around the ruins which are the usual Roman and Byzantian examples.
Lovely views, as it is very high up, preferably a rugged vehicle needed although we saw two cars whilst we visited.
Not a great site, but just different and an unexpected find.
Interesting to know how many people may have ventured here already.

Hi Tel - our home is on the Kadyanda road out of Uzumlu and we rgularly visit the ruins. Its wonderful in the heat of the summer to sit in one of the pastures having a picnic away from the hustle bustle. It has a lovely feel and atmosphere and you can see the whole of Fethiye from the top. Its fantastic for photographs too (wish I could do the photo-thing and I'd put some on to share them, but beaten by technology....again !). sssshh, don't tell too many people about it, we love the peace and quiet of Kadyanda !! :-\:D

Agree about the views, we were higher than some of those conifers.

Is it within walking distance from the Kayanda road out of Uzumlu. Have seen the signpost for it but wondered how far up the road it is

It is 6 kilometres from the village to Cadianda

Lovely walk, uphill of course. Best to walk when its cooler although there is a lot of shade from the trees.

took my aged mother up there with wife and two year old last year in standard car,no problem you just need to go slow, but worth the effort as the site is quite thought provoking. had mum moaning about the closeness of the edge a few times.

Beautiful - What an amazing view! The ancients certainly knew what they were doing when they chose the sites for their settlements. In so many, many ways they were ahead of what we are doing, even today.
Fantastic irrigation systems and water storage techniques. The mathematical and engineering skills to build vast temples, aqueducts, thermal heating and theatres for over 50000 people, with acoustics so that the audience on the back rows could still hear the actors on the stage over 100 metres away. Can you imagine any of the rubbish that we are building nowadays to be still standing in 3000 years time? I wouldn't give some of it 30 years.
In a way it's sad that most people don't go and visit places like Kadyanda, or Tlos, but then again these beautiful, tranquil places are best left free from the uneducated, unappreciative hordes.
