IS there any news on the Buzz Bar for the new season? Last we heard it was going to be rebuilt over the winter???? Does it remain? Will it open as usual??thanks.
-
no no no.....why......loved this place, hope they haven't done anything too drastic !! :)
-
hope so too....apparantly it was something to do with the new boutique hotel being built behind (dont know why as they already have the Jade and the Oyster Residence). But there were a lot of conflicting stories and rumours...so dont really know what the score is. I am hoping to hear that nothing has changed and that it is still in the same place...same style...
-
it was all still there looking the same as usual a couple of days ago when I was enjoying the warm sunshine at the beach :)
-
:))))) Thats good to know.....Another thing though...whatever happened to the "jetty" that was meant to be getting erected at Olu Deniz for the tourist boats? Has that plan been scrapped?? I remember reading something last year in the Land of Lights or Fethiye Times. But there was no sign of anything in October..
-
oh go on Nichola, you just had to rub it in didn't you !!! lol
Great to hear nothings changed, i love chilling out on a baking afternoon with a couple of cocktails, people watching, at the Buzz. Priceless....
-
The owners have been hoping to build a small boutique hotel in the grounds at the back for years now but due to finding the ruins of a byzantine church in the grounds it's been held up.
Last time I spoke to them they had no start date so things will be staying the same as far as I know.
Panic not it will still be the best place to spend a night in Olu.

I knooooow... weather when I got back from Istanbul on Friday night was 22 degrees ;) My mate got sunburned at the beach the day before.
No new jetty or what would be even better a sewage disposal unit for the boats that do the day trips. Lots of money has been spent by the council and hotels so their sewage doesn't go into the sea BUT the boats dump theirs at sea every day and it eventually finds its way to the sea shore where we like to paddle and swim.
It is clearly evident espcially towards the end of the season. Sorting this out is long overdue! I probably won't be in Ölü this year so I won't have to listen to tourists telling tales of swimming past doo doos in the lagoon or enquirying what that 'froth' is!
-
Got to be the best place for people watching! Thank goodness its still there!
-
Buzz Bar Newsflash - it is open already...
Buzz Boutique Hotel being built near the mosque at the back of Ölüdeniz. Apparently opening this year. I did also hear that they were going to be or have s/c aparts?
-
Oh my god Nichola! Is that what usually happens? Don't usually go in the sea, but I DEFINATELY won't be now! :(

That's great news. I have just checked if the webcam is back online but sadly not yet. Hopefully it will be soon and for those of us not lucky enough to be there full time, at least we can have our own little 'fix'...
Definitely the best place to people watch, chill and relax with a cocktail or two and watch the sun go down :)
-
I dont like to swim in the Lagoon for fear of coming up against any "unsavoury unidentified objects" but must admit, I have so far been lucky when swimming on the main beach not to see anything nasty....but it would be good if they could sort something out like you say Nichola. Anyway, good to hear Buzz bar is still there :))
-
Jenny - sad but true. It is a shame because over the past few years a lot of work has gone into cleaning up the effluence and the beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for the past couple of years now as a result.
The froth can be seen on the main beach all that white fluffy stuff that lingers in sweeping curves as the waves roll in should not be mistaken for anything else ;)
Oh just a little bit of extra info about the fee to get into the lagoon. There were some post last year about the cost of the entry fee to the Lagoon are which is a protected area.
The cost is 3.5TL per person and a discount for students, not sure if this also applies to children.

Yes they will be s/c apartments
-
Nichola the new Boutique Hotel and s/c apartments is to be called the Mosiac ( i wonder where they got that from ) if you search Mosiac Hotel Olu Deniz on the internet all the info is there, I believe they are already taking bookings for this year.

-
we were there for new years this year, and we went to the buzz bar for our lunch..only the bottom part of it was open, but the day was lovely and hot (26 degrees) so they moved a table outside onto the walkway for us so we could sit and have lunch in the sun.....
very nice, and absolutly love it there!

their webcam is up and running it looks beautiful today :)
-
it was a beautiful day today in olu deniz and already lots of people about
-
The beach needs a good clean up why do they leave everything until the last minute there were broken light bulbs all over the beach which were from last year extremely dangerous for young children and there were quite a few tourists about they really should get their act together, the beach is so beautiful they should look after it better.
-
have you got the link for buzz webcam please..oooooo hurry!!!!

-

-
I'm off to Olu in June for the first time and I can't wait!
Bit concerned about the broken glass on the beach and frothy surf though..!!
-
Emma - I was on the beach a couple of weeks ago (it was hot and deserted - bliss !). The tractors were out cleaning up the beach and they were making a good job of it. So by the time you arrive I'm sure it will be sparkling ! As for the frothy surf - i think its worst around the lagoon end where water tends to sit for longer. But I'm sure you will enjoy it - it shouldn't be too crowded in June (apart from Sundays!)
-
Ahhh that's alright then! Pheew had a bit of a panic!
Is the Lagoon as beautiful as it looks on the net? I'm so excited x
-
It is Emma - a lovely place. But also take the time to go to buzz bar in the early evening to watch the paragliders come in and the sun set. its a lovely bar (cocktails are fab !) - wonderful to sit and people watch !
-
Sounds perfect! I hear that the bars are pretty relaxed in Olu and that nearest nightlife is in Hisaronu. I take it the Olu bars are open reasonably late with a bit of music?
-
oh yes, absolutely Emma!!! Buzz Bar and neighbouring Help Bar are fab...relaxed but still lively and chilled....wish I was there now!!
-
Emma - it all depends on how wild you like to get !!!! ;):D Olu has lots of nice bars but is more relaxed than Hisaronu. Personally I can't stand Hisaronu - but then I'm getting rather long in the tooth, and much prefer the chilled out vibe of Olu Deniz. Hisaronu is only five minutes up the road (or rather hill !), so you have the best of both worlds if you like life revved up a little !!
-
Hi Pookie lol I think I'm approaching the age where I'm too old for all night raves but not quite pipe and slippers yet!
Having the best of both worlds sounds ideal.
-
Hi Emma
I was out recently in Ovacik so visited Olu Deniz and was on the beach a couple of times. Apart from the main Olu Deniz beach, there's the lagoon beach, but also a bit further round a couple more beaches, so plenty of choice. My favourite one is Billy's Beach - it's a bit of a walk round from Olu Deniz but if you jump on a Dolmus that's come down from Hisaronu and ask if they're going on to Hotel Meri then you're right by the beach. Billy's Beach has it's own beach bar and also in high season they will organise pick ups and returns. They also did a great Tuesday night barbq and entertainment last year so they'll probably do something similar this year.
Olu Deniz really does have a chilled out vibe in the evening, whereas Hisaronu is loud and lively but great fun and good for a change. Buzz Bar is very trendy and modern but my 76 year old quite hard of hearing mum said it was her favourite place we took her to last year - she said she liked being able to hear the music! :) It's a lovely place to sit and watch the sunset, just like Pookie says. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants down in Olu Deniz, some with the turkish beanbag cushions to relax on with a drink watching the sun go down (how I wish I could be back there now).
You can also jump on a Dolmus to go up to Hisaronu/Ovacik, or further round to Fethiye, which has a lovely harbour with all the boats and also the fish market for great fish restaurants and other restaurants. It's only about 20 mins on the Dolmus from Olu Deniz to Fethiye. From Fethiye you can also go to Calis.
I could go on and on - but I won't. Explore it for yourself, I think you'll love the variety of being able to visit so many places so easily on the local transport.
Wish I was there ....

Hi Bridge - thanks for your post!
It sounds amazing! Only hope the volcano eruptions don't cause any havoc with my flights.
I'm a big Seafood fan so Fethiye sounds great for me *belly rumbles*
-
if you are a seafood fan....you MUST NOT MISS the Fethiye Fish Market....I shall say no more. Just make sure you go!!!!! An experience not to be missed :))))))))))
-
I had the most amazing seafood paella in Ibiza last year - it will be hard to beat! :oD
OMG is it too early to start my holiday count down?
-
I believe the experience of the fish market will beat the experience of eating in Ibiza....and Im sure you will not be disappointed in the fish!!!!
-
....if its hot.....take a peg ;):D
-
Hi all - any idea when the webcam from Buzz Beach bar will be one... thanks..
-
its always been one:D ;)
-

-

-
went to olu yesterday it's like a bomb site- Buzz being done up at the moment, particularly downstairs looks like it's having a facelift at the front, all new grass being laid, an outline of the Turkish flag being made from white pebbles. Found an open bar but we had to leave as the smell of paint fumes was off the register and we couldnt sit outside as the wind was whipping up a good un!
-
mmmm sounds lovely!
-
Why do they leave it so late every year - still I'm sure it'll all be sorted by May 1
-
easter week would be even better though.lol
-
the place looked like a bomb site this time last year.....but they managed to turn it around in a few days - the day we returned home !! typical. Fingers crossed for easter....
