TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUN.
Apparently next March 29th 2006, there will be a near total eclipse of the sun (99.8%), and Fethiye is one of the places to be, and it will last approximately 1min 30 secs. If you wish to see a total eclipse you will need to go further east, and this will last for approx 4 mins, Antalya is right in the middle of it! Oh and the time 11am.
This information has been passed on to us by a work colleague who has an interest in astronomy. There are cruises, holidays being advertised to see this, so I think we can take it as correct.

It will only be a partial eclipse from Fethiye, no totality. The best place to see it will be Side where you will get a 3min 45 sec totality.
Check this map for details.

Hi Mariam and Haluk. during the total eclipse in 1998, Iwas still at my old job in Portsmouth. We only had 95% totality but it was really strange when the sky took on a bluish hue at about 1000 and all the automatic lights came on. I shall have to try to be in Fethiye next March or, even better, in Side.
