Title: Sun Loungers
Post by: Denny on February 25, 2012, 08:53:43 AM
We are renewing our outside chairs etc this year.  Can anyone tell me the cheapest place to buy chairs/sun loungers.  What I would really like is a high back chair relaxer.  Had a look last year and was a bit taken aback at how expensive they were compared to hear where you can pick a decent one up in the likes of Asda.. £34.

Cheers

There's a shop on the corner of Yerguzlar St. that sells them. Go down Baris Manco Blv towards Gunlukbasi (from the Dolphinless roundabout it's about half a mile), it's on the opposite corner to Aydin Pide if that's any help to you.

We paid 600 lira for 4 quality loungers 3 years ago, They were bought from a shop opposite tandas with a 5 year guarantee. Said shop is no longer there. They are outside only during the 4 summer months june-sept. we returned in september last to find 3 out of 4 in pieces. I dont believe they bio-degraded in a short space of time as other poorer quality loungers have been left out for years on our complex and are still intact. We bought some new from the shop opposite ayden pide for 70 lira each in october and if they last as long at a fraction of the price paid for the original ones I will be pleased.

I have bought 2 lots from Erin Spot. The first loungers we had for about 5 years and they then eventually needed replacing. (we rented out then and they got a lot of use). The 2nd set we bought were good value but after one summer 5 out of 6 of them have split. I think that possibly they are made of a different material - they are very shiny plastic where the previous ones weren't.

It maybe that the cheapest could be a false economy.

There are a few sun bed shops along the road that goes from migros to Calis.
We bought some loungers from one of the shops for 70tl each 2 years ago to replace ones we had had for 4-5 years. The make is 'Star' I think and they are quite robust. Annoyingly they would last a lot longer if they were only put out when someone is staying in the villa but they are put out in May and brought in in October. The sun makes the plastic brittle.

I have heard that Erin Spot sell white goods and tvs.  I am looking for a reasonable priced washing machine, tv and satellite for our apartment in Calis.   Has anyone used Erin Spot to purchase these goods or any recommendations of somewhere else.

Thank you

Kim I think you will find Erin Spot is probably the most recommended shop on the forum for the items you are looking for. They do not always have a lot of choice but they certainly come well recommended.

Dishwasher (Indesit), Washing Machine (Beko)and TV (also Beko) bought from Eren Spot all still working well after 7 1/2 years residential use.
Also several Wardrobe/Drawer units and Bedside cabinets. The drawback with these (no pun intended) is that all 36 handles have had to be replaced!

We bought all our white goods from Eren Spot when we bought our place and where surprised that Beko gave us a 7 year guarantee.  We did get a T.V. from Eren Spot but replaced it with one from Migros.  Migros and Kipa, in our opinion have better offers on the T.V's and they can be cheaper.
The furniture at Eren Spot is basic and cheap but fine if you are renting out. We have gradually replaced our furniture with better quality items from the local furniture shops. There is a good shop opposite Eren Spot with three floors of furniture which is better quality.  We also replaced lots of handles on the bedroom furniture, they where happy to give them to us for free.
We have bought all our garden furniture from Eren Spot including loungers.  We recently bought garden chairs that have a lever under the arm that turns them into loungers.
This is Eren Spot's website http://www.erenspot.com/

We have found that Bekir at Eren Spot doesnt offer the cheapest prices now. Maybe it is because we live here and have the time to shop around but I dont think he is cheap anymore. There were sun loungers at Kippa last year 70Tl. I saw them but didnt buy one so I cant comment on the quality of them.

we bought second hand loungers from a large garden furniture shop on the Migros road. 30tl each and they scrubbed up quite well, once the cushions are on them you dont see the base anyway

We bought our lounger chairs in Eren Spot for 70 Lira.  The guy in the shop opposite Aydin Pide had them too and as we decide to buy more we called in.  He wantd 90 Lira and would not haggle.
Remember lot of shops will deliver including Eren Spot.

The guy opposite Aydin Pide is too expensive.
Try some of the shops on the top road in Gunlukbasi too

Not sure that this is totally relevant to 'sun loungers', but thanks to everyone who gave me advice about furniture etc. buying last year.  We went just about everywhere and actually bought from many different shops.  However, do have to say that we were disappointed in Eren Soot generally - lack of choice and prices not particularly good, really.  (NB most of his furniture is slightly outdated stock. I think in most cases). Found the new Samsung shop nearly opposite had some very good bargains for white goods, but these may have been 'opening offers' in ome cases..  Generally we went to lots of different shops to find hat we wanted, but wouldn't say anywhere else stood out, really.
Back to sunloungers... What I will say is that, if you also want cushions, the shop on the roundabout that has been mentioned, will make up what you want quite
reasonably!

Thank you all so much for your helpful replies and I do apologise for asking in the sun loungers topic.  I should have opened a seperate topic.
