Title: Harman Hotel or somewhere else?
Post by: jennij on August 06, 2013, 10:29:15 AM
We've just had our hotel booking for the Pelin cancelled because the hotel is closing for the season the day before we come!!

So, we've been offered the Harman Hotel or we can cancel and book something else.

What is the Harman like? And where is it? We've been to Calis four times but I can't picture where it is!!

The Harman is really nice I would def go for that. Lovely breakfast! it's on the left if you are going down to the market  Cafe Pazar is on the corner further down the road

Have never stayed at the Harmen but have heard very good reports.  We've walked past it many times and it looks really nice.  It's in a good position, within easy reach of the bars/shops and prom.

Walk up the street across from the Aquapark, pass the Han Apts/dialysis Centre turn right at next corner you will see tennis courts on your right Harman Hotel is on the left across from tennis courts

I pass the Harman often and it looks really nice, a lot more classy than the Pelin, and whether this is good or bad depending on taste, but there are always coach loads of people arriving.

I've stayed in both and for me there's no question - the Harman beats the Pelin hands down. Both are acceptable though  :)

Great, thanks for all these replies! We've just been used to the Pelin because we discovered it when it was super cheap and have been four times now.

I was going to try and get Travel republic to give us something for changing...but I don't hold out much hope.

By the way, I used to have another log in but I can't remember my password hence creating this one!

we had to change both our bookings this year with Sunshine, and got naff all, we even had to pay the difference in price, as we didn't like the first offered option

If you prefer something closer to the beach, the Aymes Hotel across from the Pelin has just been refurbished and taken over this year. Very nice and a good price.  lastcheck.co.uk   for prices.  Hope you get sorted soon.  What date is Pelin closing ?

Been past the Harman Hotel a few times and it looks good from the outside. Just one question: Does the pool area get plenty of sunshine?
Nowt worse than having a lovely pool that's always in the shade because of buildings, trees, etc.  8)

Sun all day and the option of a shady area

Thanks for that, Kayakebab. Might give it a try - just need to get the wife to think that it was her idea   ;)

I've just noticed on GoogleEarth that it shows 2 Harman Hotels - one near the Caretta Apart Hotel and the other near the Taurus Hotel. The one I am thinking of is the one further inland near the Taurus Hotel on the way to the market. Is this the same one that's mentioned here?

Yes - but it is also not far from the Carretta  :)

Yes - definitely just a few minutes walk from the Caretta up the road towards Sunday market. The walk from Caretta to Sunday market only takes about 10 minutes anyway (depending on how hot it is, and how quick/slow you walk!)

Done it many times   :)

Liking the sound of the breakfasts!!

Just one question, how long does it take to get from the hotel to the beach?

10 min stroll, (obviously depends which bit of beach you are on   :)), but for instance, I would say about 10 mins from the taxi boats

With the new bridge at the Mutlu you can go more or less straight to the beach from the Harman - over the main road, right at the bird sanctuary, over the bridge and down the left hand side pathway next to the Mutlu.
