Title: easy jet hand luggage ?
Post by: patch on September 03, 2014, 19:08:11 PM
If you only have hand luggage . And you print your boarding passes online .do you still have to go to the check in desk or can you proceed through to the security?  Thanks

As long as it fits in the size checking frame !!!
We once ditched our oversized case at Gatwick and put our stuff in a bin liner which fitted !!!!!

Neither did I on the first flight out in April, but when I got to the departure desk & they scanned my boarding 'card' it set off more lights and bells than Blackpool at the height of season  8) ??? : :)

I have just copied this from the EJ site info:

You must read this if flying from Dalaman
1) To be allowed into the Dalaman terminal building and check-in area local security regulations stipulate that you must be able to show a printed booking confirmation; without this you will not be allowed to enter the terminal building.
2) Please note: your online boarding pass does not allow you into the departure area, so you must present yourself at BAG DROP to receive a validation stamp from our team.
3) Failure to present yourself at BAG DROP at least 60 minutes prior to scheduled flight departure time will result in you being unable to fly.

Flew Back EasyJet last night showed printed boarding pass at check in desk, unlike June we were not given printed passes went through to the gate and the home printed ones accepted no questions asked, also just a few random people selected for extra security checks while waiting at the gate. Wife and daughter flew back last week and they had to turn on iPads phones etc

I emailed EJ the other day wit this specific question:

We are travelling with hand luggage only. The boarding card I have just downloaded says we go directly to the gate at both Manchester & Dalaman, but I have heard that we may need to go to the check-in/bag drop desk at Dalaman. Can you please confirm?

I just received this answer:
I am pleased to hear that you have chosen easyJet for your travel. I can tell you that you will not require to go to bag drop unless you purchase Hold Baggage. Otherwise, you can just go straight through to enjoy your trip to Dalaman.

Great - thanks for seeking clarification and sharing, Ian. Great for hand luggage only people and great for those checking in cases, the queues should be much shorter  :)

I have the same situation with Monarch when we fly back in Oct. Have e-mailed them for clarification.  :)

I think that's a little ambiguous in that it states "......you can just go straight through to enjoy your trip to Dalaman."
You could take that to mean for your departure only - especially as that is the basis of your query.  Maybe I'm being over-cautious?

Agree Bluewise, that's how I read it.

IanK they have not answered your question in my opinion.

I am pleased to hear that you have chosen easyJet for your travel. I can tell you that you will not require to go to bag drop unless you purchase Hold Baggage. Otherwise, you can just go straight through to enjoy your trip to Dalaman.

Your question did not ask about your trip TO Dalaman it was about your trip FROM Dalaman.

His trip IS to Dalaman! Just like saying I hope you enjoy your trip to Amsterdam. You don't say I hope you enjoy your trip to Amsterdam and your trip back from Amsterdam :D

His question (and the reply) is about both legs of the journey. At least that's how I read it.

I think it's open to interpretation.  I would have to ask again as it would bug me.   ???

Well,

I did specifically mention bag drop at Dalaman and my flight is a return trip to Dalaman.

I can see why some think it is inconclusive - that's partly why I posted it.

Anyway,  I'll run the gauntlet and report from my prison cell if it doesn't work out next.

Regards

Ian

Please do Ian      So I can say to a certain someone,
"I told you so"

Oh no, hang on, that would mean you have problems on your return.  Scratch that.
 ;D ;D ;D

When I was out in June I had hand luggage only, it said specifically on my EJ itinerary that Dalaman did not support online check in so I queued up, some people went straight to the gate with home printed boarding passes and the EJ staff at the gate were calling out names and handing out the Dalaman issued passes. This time they accepted the online self printed ones so I would interpret that as they have changed their system so you should be safe to go to the gate.

OK,

we flew back last night.

We didnt go straight to the gate as my wife had an accident whilst we were in Calis (that's another story) and so needed a "fit to fly" note - I expected this may be an issue if we went straight to the gate.

However, after queuing, at check in, we were told we needn't have bothered and should have gone straight to the gate as we had no bags. Even the Fit to Fly note would only be wanted at the boarding gate.

So - if you are with EJ, and have boarding passes, and no bags to check - head straight to the gate.

Ian

Pleased you had no problems with bypassing the check-in desk Ian.
It looks like Dalaman have now sorted this out, I wonder how long it will take for EJ to remove the notice on the boarding cards?
I will look out for it when I next fly out with EJ, but that's not scheduled until April so I expect things will have changed again by then!  8)
