The new building is perfectly square it's the ones on either side that are off the plumb.

Many years ago I was attending the official opening of a new Harry Ramsden’s in Inverness.

There were lots of “suits” up from Ramsden’s Head Office and one guy took the Site Agent aside and said “ I think that our iconic Harry Ramsden’s sign is squint”.

The Agent smile politely, looked him straight in the eye and with the wonderful dead-pan Highland humour that I have come to love replied. “No sir – your sign is perfectly straight”.

The Ramsden’s “suit” smiled with obvious relief before the Agent whispered in his ear “ It’s the brickwork that’s off a country mile”
