It's alright these exchange rates being quoted on the web etc. but has anyone actually seen them being offered "in the flesh".
Rates never moved from 2.35 for last week or so in Hisaronu...?

BTW Starman - where do you live - Uludag ?!!!!! :D
That's some price for a beer mate :-\

The lowest rates which have been offered recently was 2.3949 in the morning of 15th October the rate then increased to 2.501 at midday on the 16th.

All of the above rates were quoted by and were available from Akbank.

The rate for the last few days has been bobbling along at around 2.45

So, at the end of all that, no free fall of the YTL? This is the first year I have seen the lira appreciate against the pound during the season. Should be interesting if Erdogan does invade Iraq though, can't see the U.S and British international banking mafia putting up with that - they might call in a few loans

Strong lira is apparently due to amount of dollars coming into Turkey from Iraq. If they close border crossing then that must make a difference to exchange rates.

I saw this somewhere. If I find it again I'll post the link.

The rate at the Dalaman Airport exchange yesterday was a whopping 2.07 = £1, needless to say, I didn`t see anybody changing money there.

Hey Starman. There is a bar in the balik Bazaar that charges 4 YTL for an extra large Efes (70CL) 3 YTL for 50 Cl. I was there last week.. Food is good too. From Istiklal Cad you go directly down almost to the road and it is on the right. &It has 4 floors and the roof garden is nice in the evenings.
