« on: November 13, 2007, 10:00:34 AM »
Does anybody what the acual law is on having chidren in bars. I know there was some trouble once at the Shamrock on this issue. Can anyone clarify what, if any, the law is? Many thanks  :)

:)To be perfectly honest I think its a bit hit and miss, if and when it suits them, just keep them happy and offer them the odd drink if they come in, not sure if being in Fethiye will be an advantage to you, they appear to target the likes of Calis. ;)

from what i am told the law is if you are under 18 you cannot purchase alchol or consume it.
children are generally let into the bars but should not sit or order drinks at the bar.

however....bizarre as it may be....in a restaurant in the UK, they can not drink wine with a meal until they are 18.  However, they CAN drink cider or perry......!  Seems rather odd to me, I'd much prefer my 14 year old daughter to learn to respect alcohol by being allowed the occasional glass of fine wine, than a glass of cider ! :o

I thought it was a standard 14 year old drink -  cider with a bit of lager mixed in for good measure!

Although the Law is apparently 18, if you are under the age of 18 in calis in a bar they have never question it.!?

18.
But of course like so many laws in Turkey - (smoking age, crash helmets etc.) it's a bit hit and miss !!!!
