Hi graham
We had solar heating fitted in may cost £340 ,was in calis last week & really put it to the test as there was five of us all using the hot water  not to mention the number of times we used the washing machine which is hot & cold fill ,there`s also a imersion heater fitted to them for cloudy days .So can honestly say we are pleased with it as we were the same as you in thinking about having electric.Hope this helps .

Ours also cost £330 (this summer), it may be worth shopping around.

Can anyone who's had solar heating installed tell me does it cause a lot of mess? We're going over next week to arrange for work to be done on our house and wondering whether to have it done at the start.

Val,

You may find that you already have solar, originally, all the villas on Serinkent had splar with the tank being hidden in the loft, the problem was that if your tank was to burst ( and some did ) then you got flooded in the house, hence, most people have had the tanks put outside on the roof.

If the pipework is already there then it's a somple job.

Thanks for that Rimms, we'll get that checked whilst we're over and if there is then we'll get the tank put on the roof!!
