Also very disappointed for your partner's parents Ronnie - there's never a good time to be burgled of course but I think it is particularly galling when it happens a few days after arrival somewhere - I have seen this a number of times with people moving over, and people who just arrived for their holiday. It is one thing I dearly wish could be eradicated from the area but it is the same everywhere sadly. I absolutely agree with you, traditionally it has been put down to lucky chancers but I have long said that there is also a well organised element in all this too.
This is also a topic that we were discussing yesterday - not about Calis but about modern times - it wasn't too many years ago that you wouldn't even tell the taxi driver who took you to the station where you were going or how long for. Now we not only tell the World our plans, but instantly post photos onto Facebook of ourselves holding up a pina colada, confirming that all our family are with us 2000 miles away and Facebook kindly stamps and confirms the location, just to be sure.
I'm as guilty as anyone, but as Ronnie says, be careful - with your information and be aware that you do need to take security very seriously - especially when people associate new arrivals with cash, credit cards and mobile phones...
