Access to Ciftlik village.
« on: May 26, 2012, 20:39:32 PM »
As a non driver I am incredibly frustrated at the inability to access the village now. The shops/resturants/barbers etc  must also be noticing a drop in customers. Is there any means by which we can bring this to the attention of the local officials and eventually get somesort of bridge, underpass, crossing, in place so those of us who don't drive here can walk down to Ciftlik again, reasonably safely?

What's changed Carpete? We usually cross the road after walking through Cicek and over the little bridge towards the main road. Then across from there there is a little road that comes out near the Pide Cafe.

They have made the kerbs quite high near there, and possibly put in some foliage on the centre of the dual carriagewaywhich would make it quite difficult to cross.Maybe need to cross near the roundabout,

Ron that doubles the walk, not really viable if you are just going down for bread and eggs for breakfast. It  would be lunch! Stoop, when did you last walk down? It's like Brands Hatch on a bad day now, and last week, impassable if you had a bike.

Just to clarify as I may not have made it clear, my original question was about actually walking down to the village. If you have a bike then thats another slant on the situation.

Carol,

We missed out last year so its about 18 months since we went. I agree with you that walking via the roundabout is much further than crossing where we use to. We sometimes walked but mostly biked that way. Shame if it can't be done now.

Ron - if you check the first post you will see Carol only mentioned walking.

'impassable if you had a bike.'

I don't see where she says she has one ;-)

Anyway it sounds a bit of a mess. It's a much nicer walk/bike ride the way we used to go - and shorter. As usual the Turkish planners mess it up.
