The Turkish Health Insurance Scheme (SGK) is only compulsory for people who have resided in Turkey for one year without interruption.  Below is a useful link.

From the SGK link - 'The premium amount for the first 6 months is TL212,76 per month.'
So for a couple TL425.52 (£150) a month or £1800 a year.
How does this compare with average private health insurance premiums ?

I thought a married couple paid the single premium - is that not correct?   :D

Its 225.25 TL per month. This covers Husband, Wife (they do need to be married!) and dependent children.  If man and woman are not married it is 225.25 each!

Before we took out SGK I had a quote of £2,800 for me only, for one year, with no existing conditions covered.
