would the lotion be suitable for knobs and knockers as well as the door, mine are looking a little jaded so will probably give them a quick rub as well so long as it does not discolour them ;D thanks for the name of the lotion Ian  :)

Dave took a keen interest in beautifying the knob, but I didn't have THAT much oil  ;)

It has worked   :)

Will be off on my bike down around the sanayi tomorrow to look for a new handle and a new knocker (with spy hole) - very pleased - thanks Lynne  ;D

YW Ian, I got the info off the net, but can't remember where.  I tried it on a bad bit, thinking it wouldn't work, but it did and lasts a fair while too.   :)

talking of all things doors knobs and knockers  :)does anyone know if you can buy a replacement security catch for the standard brown metal doors please? When we use to have our apartment like fort knox the front door was locked with the security catch on, I went out and forgot about the catch when I opened the front door the catch snapped  have not gotten round to replacing it but think I should really, thanks for any replies  :)

Did the same with the catch on my door a few years ago and managed to get replacement in the Yappi market. Worth trying or if not the big DIY place on the way into Fethiye might well have them they seem to carry a huge stock of different items

The big DIY shop on the way into Fethiye does have them, bought one there this year.

So went riding around this morning - tried the big DIY on the way into Fethiye and they had brushed chrome handle for 9.90 TL - but no matching knocker.

Went around sanayi - called in a few other DIY shops with no result.
Started to ride down Gunlukbasi Road from Otogar towards Calis and past a specialist door shop (just after Kipa - I think) on the right hand side and bought handle and matching knocker in gold for 10 TL + 5 TL = 15 TL (5 TL for a spy hole but I said "no thank you - I have one  ;D )

The products are not as heavy as those that I removed but they should certainly look ok for 2 or 3 years I would think and the door now looks lovely   :)
