Looks like a bit of 'throw away nonsense' of a commital to me.  Still at least he got to make it in Cannes, which has absoloutely nothing to do with it I am sure  ;)  ;)

Won't help the man foreigners who live there in rented properties though.

If you live in Turkey you can easily get a resident permit. Doğan has just read to me from today's Vatan newspaper they are "considering" allowing making it easier for people that own property in, but don't live in Turkey to get up to maybe a 5 year resident permit. All up in the air at the moment.
