yes, they wanted my missus to go to Izmir with an interpreter and stop overnight to have lazer surgery, for both eyes. cost minimum of 5,000TL.  We would have had to pay ALL costs.
Went to the Esnaf, she had cateracts taken off of both eyes and cost 2,500TL, and the service was 1st class.
Wouldn't go there again although I am led to believe it has got a lot better

Try Kartel Eye Hospital in Patlangic, they have operating theatres on site, I had a minor op there about 4 years ago, they were brilliant.

They diagnosed me with cataracts a year ago so I went for a 2nd opinion to Esnaf and I did not have them.

They also diagnosed one of our friends as having cataracts, an eye test in the UK refuted this.

I went to Esnaf for a consultation about having laser treatment, so I do not need to wear glasses anymore after 40 years being short sighted.
After the examination he said I could have laser treatment but I would be wasting my money as I had small cataracts which would develop over the next few months or years.
He said although I would not know I had cataracts as they were small and did not need doing, if I wanted to have them removed then I would just need reading glasses in future and once removed they do not come back. Was all pretty painless 1100tl each eye, he speaks excellent English.

Oops, sorry, didn't realize Kartel was Eagle Eye, I did say it was 4 years since I went there, and they were very good for what I needed doing, removal of a small cyst inside my eyelid caused by splashing paint in it while decorating.
