Kindle fire hd.

I don't think this is correct - reading in sunlight will be as difficult as any other device

The only thing that is easy to read in sunlight is your normal e-ink reader. These are not tablets and so you won't be able to watch movies/films

I've used my iPad mini in the sun but to be honest the kindle is much easier to read and much cheaper to replace if it gets sand/water damage. So I take both. Kindle for books and iPad for everything internet based  :)

I think you can buy screen protectors that are anti glare? The first one I bought for my iPad was matt.

We found changing the text facility on the Kindle from white background with black text, to black background with white text, made it easier to read during the day.

Note re Scotland:- Aviemore was 22 degrees yesterday, hottest place in the U.K. and hotter than Barcelona.
