I looked up "old codger" in The Free Dictionary and it claimed it meant "eccentric but amusing old man". I would feel honoured by such a title. Incidentally, I didn't say I would never return to Turkey; just that I wouldn't be holidaying there while the government was still routinely torturing people held in prison.
