I’m hearing Walmart actually want to offload Asda and this is ideal for them.

I guess Asda will disappear eventually but they are saying that at first they will trade separately.

It seems to be a huge cost saving merger that will cost thousands of jobs. Not sure the monopoly commission will accept it.

Would reckon mostly head office jobs will be lost. Only if two stores close together would they close one, but could one carry the trade of the former two?

In York the Asda is 500yds from Sainsburys. Both big stores employing hundreds. One will go for sure.

I think the days of huge stores is over for now. Tesco have been letting in concessions left right and centre. One of ours has Burtons, Evans and D Perkins upstairs.
