Really nice pictures. If anyone is interested and you want to attract these bird in to your garden they are partial to Niger seed and you get a special feeder that these birds seem to be the only ones that use it. They usually feed in pairs one on one side and the other on the other.

Hi Andy great pictures, the last one shows a pair of Goldfinches, cock on the right hen on the left, you can sex these by looking at the red 'blaze' the cocks goes behind the eye the hens doesn't. As for encouraging Bullfinches they like to feed on fruit tree buds, the Orchard owners hate them! You could try a good quality British Finch mix not the rubbish wild bird food which is full of cheap filling corn etc. try searching for suppliers of Haiths, Beyers or Country Wide Seeds.

I watched locals setting traps last year to catch this beautiful wild bird. early morning 3 men with nets and a decoy bird in a cage very distressing
but no birds were caught, maybe if they had I would have had something to say to them I was very concerned this was by Munis Apartments in Calis if they return this year I will approach them obviously when I am in calis as we are only there 5/6 times a year
it started very early daybreak

Never heard of anyone trapping trapping them? Can't think why they would, maybe there is a market for them somewhere?

Sunflowers.
We plant miniature sunflowers every year and we get weeks of entertainment watching them climb over the flower heads to get to  the seeds.
