Hi everyone, we are staying in Calis Beach for 2 weeks in early October and really looking forward to it.  A few years ago we stayed in Side and although we had taken Lira Euros seemed the preferred currency.  It would be great to know what you all think.  Looking forward to hearing from you.  Zoe & Malcolm

Lira is as good as anything in Calis, but take a little to get you through and bring sterling to change locally. It's the opposite to Side/Alanya etc - when we first went there nobody wanted sterling and most didn't have any idea even what the exchange rate for pounds was. They still tend to work in euros but Calis is very much pound land. (Not Poundland).

Welcome to the forum by the way  :)

Welcome Zoe & Malcolm.

As Keith said, just bring enough to get you through the aiport & settled into the resort then get your £'s changed into Lira locally. You will get a slightly better rate in Fethiye than in Calis, normally!

I know that card charges can be prohibitive but there are several cash machines in Calis and Fethiye.

Welcome to the forum - bring a bit of lira to tide you over the first day or so and bring sterling to change whilst you are here - rates are better here than they are in the UK.  There is a Midland Cashpoint in Calis that dispenses sterling too :-)
