I'm sorry for not paying attention for 5 years, but I was thinking about annual travel insurance, now we are back in the UK.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Just basic family cover, I mean good cover but nothing like skiing or bunjee jumping ;)
Also, when using these compare all insurance company websites like confused.com, is Turkey classed as Europe or Worldwide? :D
Thanks for any advice forthcoming. Or fifthcoming would do.

Keith - I alternate between direct travel insurance and go insurance both are hard to beat and give decent levels of cover for the basic package.

Yup, we've used Direct travel in the past too. Very good - but thankfully haven't had to put them to the test on claims. Are you going on holiday then Scunner ?:D watch it, they will have the borders patrolled ;): :)

We did have to make a claim last year as one of our party fell ill, and spent a couple of nights in the Esnaf - They paid up in full without any fuss. There is a 15% off sale on now too :D

When back in the UK we used Sainsbury's or Tesco, they seemed to be the best value then but I don't know what they are like now.

We use Halifax Bank Ultimate Reward Account for us as a couple, which is £12 per month, this is for Worldwide cover 31 day trip any one visit, it also covers mobile phone insurance, RAC and more (at home), but those are what we use as a couple, if we had children of school age they would also be covered for annual travel insurance, so we feel we get our moneys worth. Our daughter who is 20 uses direct travel for annual travel (europe) cost £17 per year, she first used them 2 years ago for one weeks insurance (cost £5!!) we had to claim as she was taken to the hospital in fethiye by ambulance from Olu Deniz(suspected pneumonia), luckily she was treated correctly we paid our money over and upon claiming back in England no problem at all money all returned minus the £50 excess, that was long winded but hopefully helps.

We use the Lloyds bank free cover with the gold account. No charge if you keep over a certain amount in the bank.
Go to MSE - there are loads of deals on there.
Don't forget Quidco & the like - you might get LOTS of money back. - You REALLY need to talk to Crabbit - his post on here re Quidco saved me hundreds.

We get Worldwide cover for free with our Wesleyan Bank Account. Well not really free - it costs us £8 per month but since we tend to go away 5 or 6 weeks a year it's worth it. Spurred on by your reviews of Quidco I joined this morning. I wanted to buy a washing mackine. Littlewoods had the one I wanted for £399.00. Quidco was advertizing 8% cashback (excluding VAT) if I clicked on through their webpage. So I did and found my chosen machine - but priced at £499.00. So I exited and returned via Littlewood's own site -yep, £399 again. Not much point in getting the discount and paying a net £466 for the same machine. I have contacted Quidco. Less than impressed so far.

Be careful with Littlewoods Colwyn, there are two, Littlewoods Direct and Littlewoods. Littlewoods are like the old catalogue - more expensive but you can pay £2 a week for 52 weeks etc.
I'm sure if you follow the Littlewoods DIRECT link from Quidco it will be the £399 price. On top of all that, try putting ZQ454 in the promotional code box for another £50 off any £100+ spend. May work, may not.

I would shop around anyway - before you use quidco. Littlewoods Direct have my new TV on at £549 with a £100 'saving' from the £649 rrp. I got it for £399 at Richer Sounds.
Quidco should offer the same price as if you went directly to Littlewoods Direct (as Scunner says)and I don't think the prices are inflated or any different to logging onto the sellers website without going through quidco.

I did as you suggested and got the 8% off £399. The promotion codes didn't work but I got £10 off with ZG561 for being a new customer. Also a deduction because good ole Gordon dropped VAT rates and they hadn't put that into the price advertized (odd that). So I calculate the net cost after all this is £360 (plus £5 Quidco fee). Not bad, but I wish I had ordered it last week when AppliancesOnline had it on offer for £341 - now £447.
So thank you old chap, please accept a knighthood. Shall now write to Quidco to apologize and tell them to ignore my previous email.
