Anyone looking to open a Bank Account I would recommend speaking to Alper at Fortis Bank. He is very helpful speaks excellent English answers all emails within a few mins. I emailed him today for details to transfer money from Nationwide he sent me the details within 10 mins, I sent a swift payment, Alper emailed me 2 hours later to say he had recieved the money.
They have the same goverment guarantee as other Turkish Banks ie 100,000ytl he als offerd us goverment bonds which are 100% safe.

Hi Peter, I believe the limit one is covered for is 50,000YTL per person or 100,000YTL in a joint account

Government bonds are 100% safe but slightly less interest.

If you think to make your investment for a long period you can choose gov. bonds they give better interest at long periods than interest accounts.
